As a Christian is it ok to claim bankruptcy?  And what are the long term effects in the state of NJ?

When I retired in Pennsylvania, I rolled my pension into an IRA and my 401k was split between tax-deferred and tax already paid. The deferred portion was rolled over into the IRA, and the tax paid portion ($14,000) was written to me. Now that I have filed for bankruptcy, will the tax paid portion become part of my bankruptcy estate, or would it be exempted if used to fund an IRA?
